2010 chrysler town & country review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Family-friendly minivan. introductionminivans offer roominess, convenience, versatility and fuel efficiency. There is no more sensible choice for a family with more than a couple of children. Chrysler was the first into this market and, long after other manufacturers have left it, chrysler remains, with the chrysler town & country and the dodge caravan. Of the two, the town & country is generally more upscale, and chrysler bills the town & country as the ultimate family friendly vehicle. the 2010 chrysler town & country is offered with three v6 engines. The base engine, a 3. 3-liter v6 or 175 horsepower, doesn't offer much in the way of either power or fuel efficiency. The 3. 8-liter v6, with 197 horsepower, is adequate for around-town duty, but the best choice is the available 4. 0-liter v6 and its 251 horsepower. But it's a big vehicle, however, and is not nimble. There will be noticeable body lean in the turns and the ride can feel floaty at highway speeds. The honda odyssey and nissan quest are more car-like and sportier to drive. on the other hand, the town & country's entertainment and seating options are the best in the class, matched only by the dodge grand caravan. The standard stow 'n go seating tucks the second-row seats nicely into the floor, and when those seats are up, the floor bins offer storage space. The rear seats fold into the floor on all models, allowing a perfectly flat, voluminous rear storage area. The swivel 'n go option is great for family trips; the second row turns to face the third row with a table in between, making it an activity center for the kids. There are also many entertainment choices. for 2010 there are only minimal changes: the driver and front passenger seats have active head restraints, a rear obstacle detection display is in the vehicle information center, and the 4. 0-liter v6 has a revised final-drive ratio which improves fuel economy. the town & country is a great vehicle for families that need to haul kids and cargo on a regular basis. Also offered are chrysler's uconnect multimedia suite 1,300) with a rearview camera, chrysler's uconnect phone hands-free cell phone link and chrysler's uconnect gps, which adds a navigation system with real-time traffic and voice activation to the uconnect tunes 30-gigabyte hard-drive radio. Three rear dvd entertainment systems are offered. The lx model is available with entertainment group 1 2,120), which has a single rear dvd screen, and also comes with sirius satellite radio, a rearview camera, and a 115-volt power outlet. Entertainment group 3 2,020) for the limited model has two rear video screens with two dvd players, plus sirius backseat tv. A trailer tow group 600) includes heavy-duty engine cooling, trailer wiring harness, and load-leveling rear air suspension. Several of the higher line standard features are also available for the lower line models as options. the limited is available with a safety group that includes rear cross path and blind spot alert systems, along with uconnect phone, an ipod control, and auto-dimming mirror 825). The nissan quest, kia sedona, honda odyssey, and toyota sienna are all within a few inches, plus or minus, in overall length. The roof is wide at the top, also contributing to the boxy look. the snout features a large grille with ties to other chrysler products. The body sides have a clean, simple design. The rear liftgate is available with power operation, which is handy, but the rear glass doesn't open separately, which isn't. Chrome accents on the front and rear fascias, door handles, belt molding, and mirrors lend an upscale appearance. interiorthe town & country's competitive advantage can be found on the inside. While ambiance and materials quality are not tops in the class, thoughtful features are. hard plastic dominates the dash and doors. The only padded surfaces are found on the captain's chairs' fold-down armrests, and they are an unimpressive looking rubberized material. The gauges are easy to spot and the various controls are clearly marked. the radio and/or uconnect tunes/gps system is set high on the center of the dash for easy access. With either system, the controls are easy to use, but those on the right side are a bit of a reach for the driver. The cd/dvd changer is also set low, making it a possible distraction to use while driving. The gearshift is mounted between the radio and the instrument panel. Both systems have a 30-gigabyte hard drive to hold music, pictures, and, with the navigation system, navigation map information. Both systems are capable of holding thousands of songs. front-seat room and comfort are typical for a minivan. The front captain's chairs afford an upright driving position with an suv-like view of the road. There is plenty of head room, and leg room will only be lacking for the tallest drivers. A tilt steering wheel and available adjustable pedals should help most drivers tailor a comfortable seating position, but we'd still like the steering wheel to telescope. the clever features start with the storage solutions. Chrysler provides two glove boxes and some cubbies in the center stack for small items storage. A total of 13 cupholders are found throughout the van, so the whole team has a place to put the root beers after the little league game. The premium center console is more impressive. This top level slides back to reveal a larger storage bin below it. The lower bin also slides back. With both layers pushed back, the top level moves back a total of 21 inches, which allows parents up front to prepare lunch for the kids and pass it back in a safe manner. The premium console is also removable. the rear seating solutions are better yet. All town & country models have a deep well behind the third row, which is a great place to put groceries so they won't slide around. With the rear seats in place, there is an impressive 32. 3 cubic feet of cargo room. All models have a 60/40 split folding third-row bench seat t. Enclave is aimed at the upper end of the crossover segment, with competitors like the acura mdx, lexus rx 350 and mercedes-benz r 350. Enclave's styling is completely different from its siblings. but what really sets the enclave apart is its modern cabin, with stylish illumination, crisp graphics, genuine wood trim and nice leather. The seats are comfortable, and it can be ordered with a second-row bench seat or luxurious captain's chairs, depending on whether seven- or eight-passenger capacity is needed. Enclave is rated to tow up to 4500 pounds. Smooth and practical, we think it may be the best vehicle buick has ever built, though there are some fine vintage models we certainly wouldn't mind having. the enclave was introduced for the 2008 model year. For 2009, enclave gets a more powerful engine and various equipment upgrades. The 3. 6-liter v6 engine adds direct-injection, upping horsepower from 275 to 288 and torque from 251 to 270 pound-feet. New features for 2009 include a standard bluetooth wireless cell phone link, real-time traffic information for the available navigation system, available heated and cooled front seats, and a 110-volt power outlet that comes with all entertainment packages. A rear-view camera that projects its image on the rearview mirror is also new. lineupthe 2009 buick enclave is offered in cx and cxl models, each with front-wheel drive (2wd) or all-wheel drive (awd). The evolving design of that grille and the sculpted sides are reflected in the upcoming 2010 buick lacrosse. the long body shell is anything but boxy, with curvy, swoopy, and sexy shapes from every angle. All of the front lighting elements use clear lenses, with lots of different elements to please the eye and light the road. Everything under the bumper is kept simple and clean to draw the eye to that massive grille. The roof and the side windows are done in a gracefully decreasing sweep from front to rear, accented by bright-metal roof bars that follow the roof's curvature perfectly front to back. out back, the top-hinged tailgate with standard power opening and closing is a work of art, with the rear glass extending beyond the sheetmetal into the rear opening. The rear glass is quite large, and is convex-shaped, coming to a point just above the buick tri-shield logo and above the wide-screen taillamps. Under the rear bumper is a diffuser panel and dual exhausts with bright tips, making for one of the tastiest rear-end treatments in the crossover segment. interiorthe cabin is what sets the buick enclave from other seven- and eight-passenger crossovers. Starting with the double-wave dashboard and instrument panel and going all the way back to the rear cargo floor, it's as modern as tomorrow and as functional as a swiss army knife. the chrome-ringed white-on-black instruments and analog clock are highly styled, with a soft blue-green illumination (which is repeated around the perimeter of the headlamp), and halo lighting at night. The graphics are large and clear, and the wood is real. On the cxl version, the steering wheel is leather and mahogany, with 10 switches and controls mounted on it for easy use. In a messy chicago winter, the camera lens became speckled with dirt and salt, making the image hard to see in the rearview mirror. A larger image on the navigation screen would have been easier to see and more helpful. Or, there's a second-row bench seat that makes for a 2-3-3 seating scheme for a total of eight passengers. either way, the driver and front-seat passenger get power bucket seats. The third row is usable for more than just kids. The third row has enough head-room for adults, and leg room is good for kids and fair for adults. Three kids will fit across, but three adults will find it tight. Only small kids will find the third row comfortable for long trips, though, because the seat bottoms sit too low to provide thigh support. the enclave gets high marks for storage space and flexibility. There's 23. 2 cubic feet of cargo room just inside the power tailgate behind the third row, 67. 5 cubic feet with the third row seats down, and 115. 3 cubic feet with both rows folded. Another 4 cubic feet of storage space is found under the rear cargo floor. Up front, the enclave has storage on top of the dash for sunglasses, ipods, and cell phones. Buick says the enclave has 24 storage areas, counting door pockets, under-seat areas, and built-in storage. Buick claims a 0–60 time in the low eight-second-range, not bad for 5000 pounds. 2008 saturn vue review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It will eventually be sold around the world in saturn, opel, chevrolet, holden and daewoo brands. About the only things left over from the old plastic-sided vue are a couple of its powertrains. Otherwise, it's a much fresher, sportier-looking vehicle than the big, slab-sided square-cornered suv it replaces. as such, the all-new 2008 saturn vue presents itself with a slightly smaller interior in terms of its total cubic feet of storage, but a much more pleasant and useable interior than the outgoing model provided. with two trim levels, three engines, two transmissions and a choice front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the 2008 saturn vue fits below the larger and roomier, eight-passenger saturn outlook in both size and price. The vue retails from about $21,400 for a basic front-drive model to more than $31,000 for a loaded all-wheel-drive version. While the starting price is more than $3,000 higher than that of the previous model, the list of additional standard content is quite long, so the value proposition is still a good one. The available v6 engine comes with a six-speed automatic that replaces the previous five-speed automatic, and better highway fuel economy (when checking the 2008 numbers against the 2007 numbers, remember that the epa has changed the testing procedures resulting in fuel economy ratings that are lower and more realistic results). With a v6 engine, the vue is rated to tow up to 3500 pounds. saturn loaded the new 2008 vue down with safety equipment. The vue comes standard with a full complement of air bags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes. with more standard features, more power, and better fuel economy, the all-new 2008 saturn vue represents a vehicle that's full of space and storage, easy to use, easy to drive, and easy on the eyes. lineupthe 2008 saturn vue comes in a choice of xe and xr trim. Both xe and xr versions are available in front-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. Later in the year, an sportier vue red line or rl version will be added to the lineup, featuring larger tires and wheels, the 3. 6-liter engine, and other sporty interior and exterior touches and decors. Options include a dvd navigation and cd/mp3 player system 2145) and a high-end stereo system 325). This version of stabilitrak includes a trailer-stabilizing system that automatically applies the brakes when it detects the trailer swaying behind the vehicle. walkaroundcrisp, sporty and modern from every angle, the exterior design of the new 2008 saturn vue is dramatically different from the boxy old vue, and that's because it is based on the european opel antara crossover and not the previous american-bred platform. Where the outgoing vehicle had cheesy imitation wood and plastic, the new european look is clean, modern and classy in terms of design, appearance, materials and function. There's a good balance of brightwork to panels from the left door across the instrument panel and dashboard to the right door, and the heating/air conditioning vents are big, round and nicely done. the driver's bucket seat is comfy, containing but not restrictive. The seating position at front left is commanding and comfortable, and everything is within easy reach. The instrument panel is pleasant to look at, easy to read and use, night or day. Saturn has chosen brushed metal over shiny chrome, which avoids problems with fingerprints and sun reflections, and for that we give them high marks. It's one of the easiest systems to use of all the competitors in this segment, with big markings and good contrast. This is a mid-market opel design, so there's no wood in here at all, but the plastics, metals and fabrics are all very touchable and good-looking. Down below, the shifter is a single-gate model, surrounded again by brushed metal.\ there's 56 cubic feet of cargo room just inside the easy-lift tailgate with the 60/40 second-row seats flopped down. There's a huge glovebox, an under-seat box under the front passenger seat, more storage in the second-row console, and, hiding under the cargo floor is a whole network of nooks, crannies and cubbies built into the spare tire carrier assembly, and some almost-hidden storage way up front in the compartment. in the cargo compartment floor are two sets of rails into which fit a set of six sliding chocks to help secure cargoes of all shapes and sizes, with more tie-downs in the floor and in the seatbacks. The 2007 vue carried a rating of 63. 8 cubic feet of cargo with the second seat down, some 13 percent larger using epa measuring methods, but less useable overall than the open and hidden space in the new truck. driving impressioncompared with other five-seat crossover utility vehicles from the japanese, korean, european and domestic competition, the saturn vue behaves more like a european vehicle. That makes sense, given its german opel roots. the power steering is not overboosted or mushy, and has good but not great road feel. The ride is taut without being jarring, and body roll control is right up there with the best of the other europeans, including bmw and land rover, so the vue invites spirited driving, especially through long sweeping curves. Isolation from the world outside is very good. we were very impressed with the acceleration performance from the available 3. 6-liter v6. Paired with the new six-speed transmission, this engine makes the vue smooth, quiet, and authoritative without a lot of noisy cabin intrusion. The 257-hp v6 engine is near the top of the class in terms of power and torque. It'll accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about seven seconds flat. In sixth gear, the engine sound all but disappears, providing a relaxed, easy cruising mode. we like brakes that start braking right at the top of the pedal travel, and the saturn vue's brakes delivered on that, with lots of braking power at the initial stab of the pedal and even more with more pedal travel, very linear and effective. summarythe sat.
